When the batteries start to near the end of their life, the smaller secondary beam color LEDs will start to blink, indicating that the batteries are getting low. When the batteries have finally reached the point where they can no longer support the current level of brightness, the light will finally start to dim slightly and the secondary beam color LEDs will come on continuously indicating the reduced power.
